Well, David here in the second update of the year, talking about the progress on our sequel to “Best Laid Plans,” now titled “Of Vice and Hitmen.” This continues our allusion to Robert Burns’ “To a Mouse.” (And leaves me to wonder: if there’s a third one, will it involve a gang?)

I moved to New Jersey at the end of July, and in a mad rush of two weeks, managed to dub all of my lines that really needed it.

Jason assures me that he is well into the process of editing, going so far as to have a few screenshots available. Let’s have a look, shall we?

Here we see the lovely Shannon, as Christina, in raw footage. She doesn’t particularly look as though she were in a freezing car in the middle of December, does she? I guess someone should fix that.

And luckily Jason has: the image has been blued a bit, to help with the intimation of both cold and helplessness. I don’t know how many filters he’s adding, or what other technical stuff he needs to do, so I can’t give you an exact time line for release.

Instead I’ll give you another screenshot, featuring the inimitable Leo as Nikolai.

Also note that this film features every Wacko member in a prominent role. All five “acting” members appear in front of the camera: Alex, Shannon and myself reprising our roles from “Best Laid Plans,” and Leo and Ellen getting some screen time too. Meanwhile, Jason labored intensively to write, shoot, and edit the film. The antagonist, Bernie Bricks (an allusion to the first film), is played by newcomer (to us anyway) Maurice Thomas.

In other news, a first draft has been completed on the upcoming internet noir serial.
Having been one of the privileged “beta readers,” it gets my thumbs up as a rollicking good time. Of course, revision is taking a back seat to the post-production of “Of Vice and Hitmen,” so it will be a while until the serial gets up and running.
